MY STORY
Hi, I’m Megan Reimer
After 14 years in the corporate world as a communications and people change management specialist, COVID-19 forced me to leave the comfort and safety of everything I knew and hit me with a test of resilience. I bravely stepped into entrepreneurship as a way to expand my heart and wrap up everything I know into an offer for other entrepreneurs.
My communications experience means I understand the art of connecting with your audience, and building a message in a way that truly resonates with them. My people change management experience means I take an empathetic, human-centric approach to everything I do. My editing experience means I understand all phases of editing: structure and organization, style, grammar and punctuation, and final proofreading, so that I can truly support you from draft to publication. I also have experience with (and books on) most publication styles such as Canadian Press, or Chicago Manual of Style, which means I can do your nerdy work by ensuring your manuscript adheres to the style you choose.
I understand what it means to be vulnerable, and what it means to hold a safe space for others' vulnerability. I can also spot a double space after a period from a kilometre away.
I know this is a vulnerable process, and I am not going to rip your work to shreds.
It is your story, and always will be.
My mission
To bring your story, your voice, your heart to the page.
Passing your WORDS, YOUR STORY, YOUR HEART, to an editor IS VULNERABLE—AND I GET THAT.
It is important to know who you are passing your work to.
I truly believe that communication is life. It is everything we do. It is technology, it is music, it is art, it is our bodies. It is the way you connect with the world no matter how you choose to do so. It is simply, and truly, life.
My values
My approach
Communication is life. It is everything we do. It is technology, it is your body, it is music, it is art, it is the way you connect with the world no matter how you choose to do so. It is simply and truly, life.
To deliver clear, transparent, and authentic communication, through meaningful, supportive, and relatable content, and respectful and collaborative partnerships.
I approach editing like I do all things: with compassion and empathy. I will always share my recommendations or queries with you and my reasoning, and support documentation if needed, so that you are clear on what could be changed and why. I will also be transparent in showing you what I have done so you can ensure your meaning and message haven't changed.
I am also not attached to any of the recommendations I provide—while we are co-creating this, you are the author and all of these decisions are ultimately up to you. If you are uncomfortable with a recommendation, let me know and we can talk it through. I am here to support you and make sure you feel that your words represent your story and your voice.

MY THESIS
Throughout 2020 and 2021, I researched, wrote, and edited my own master's thesis on the lived experiences of individuals braving mental health conditions through an empathetic, qualitative research methodology (interpretative phenomenological analysis, or IPA).
My thesis was awarded a distinction of honour, and my supervisor, Dr. Chaseten Remillard, had this to say: “The strength of Megan’s thesis, and ultimately why it was recommended for distinction, was that she approached her topic with genuine care for the voices she was representing in the analysis, and her creative approach to the thesis format. Instead of trying to make the subjective seem objective, she leaned into the subjective and managed to provide meaningful and robust social scientific research whilst never losing sight of the fact that she was talking about people.”
My thesis was also nominated for a Governor General’s Gold Award, for most outstanding thesis in the School of Communication and Culture at Royal Roads University.
